Another of our NPs is retiring
Posted almost 13 years ago by Jan Taylor
Halloween was the last day of work at North Sound Family Practice for Susan Willis. November 1st was the first day of that next phase of work - retirement - work of a different kind.
Before becoming an NP, Susan was an RN in a large Children's hospital in Kentucky, A trauma/cardiac center in Rochester, NY and supervisor or OR and OB in a small rural hospitals in Taos, NM and rural appalachia. Susan received her NP training for midwiffery and Family Practice in Appalachia.
Susan has been a Nurse Practitioner and certified Nurse Midwife since 1979 and has practiced since then in Mt Vernon and Whatcom counties working at Birth Centers and in hospitals. She also worked at tribal health clinics in LaConner and Sedro Wooley. She has been practicing with NSFP for 24 years. She has been instrumental in getting NP's privildeges to deliver babies at SJH, and has been caring for families and delivering babies for years. She feels that the support she has gotten from her physician and staff colleagues has been fantastic.
Future plans include spending time with family and friends, traveling, and her many activities of tennis, bridge, hiking, biking, piano, reading, gardening, Spanish. Slow down? Never. I will be going to CME, volunteering, and fill in work... may even winter in Costa Rica.
