Prescription Monitoring Program

Posted over 13 years ago by Jan Taylor

Prescription Monitoring Program Stakeholder:

A bill has been introduced in the legislature related to the PMP.  House Bill 2142 updates RCW 70.225.020 and RCW 43.70.110 to allow the department to charge certain health professionals up to $15.00 per year to pay for the program.  It would require the department to seek federal and private funding and would not allow the fee to be charged unless grant or general fund money is not sufficient to operate the program.  This authority would allow us to keep the PMP running if we are unable to secure additional funding after our current grants expire.

The bill has a hearing on December 8, 2011 before the House Ways and Means Committee at 10 AM.  Public testimony will be allowed.  If you would like to attend the hearing or provide testimony, the hearing will be held in House Hearing Room A of the John L. O'Brien Building (Olympia, WA).

You can also watch the hearing online (live or archived) at: http://www.tvw.org/

Feel free to forward this message to any other interested parties.
