HB 2261 seeks to regulate how health care professionals describe themselves to patients. ARNPs are well aware of the need to accurately identify ourselves to patients and colleagues. However, this hastily developed bill would impose restrictions on how we describe ourselves and the badges we wear. We already introduce ourselves to our patients with our licensing and role identified.
We respectfully urge the House Health and Wellness Committee to halt further action on this bill and instead gather information to identify whether an actual problem exists with evidence from the boards and commissions before moving forward with a bill that is likely unnecessary. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW, so committee members know your opinion.

Here’s how to do it:
Go to this link.
Select Agenda Item:
HB 2261 Health care credentials
Select type of testimony
Select:
“I would like my position noted for the legislative record”
Select "Con"
You must then complete the identifying information with your name, address and phone number for your testimony to be counted. Please do not list a particular organization unless you are the official representative.
We have filled the panel for in person and remote testimony, but you may submit written testimony. If you would like help with this, reach out to leglead@auws.org.
With your help, we will stop this legislation. Please sign in opposition to this bill and share this with your colleagues.
