Additional Information

An empowering session on managing menopause symptoms safely and effectively, presented by Vanessa Weiland, ARNP, HT, MSCP, the founder of Phases Clinic, a holistic menopause and sexual wellness clinic based in Washington State. As a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner, certified clinical hypnotherapist, and board-certified Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of experience, Vanessa is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to support individuals through the menopause transition.

Led by Vanessa Weiland, AGPCNP-BC, HT, MSCP, this presentation is designed to provide healthcare professionals with essential updates on navigating menopause. The goal is to equip clinicians with the knowledge to effectively evaluate and treat menopausal patients.

The session will cover a variety of topics, including:

Menopause Physiology: Reviewing the biology and hormonal changes associated with menopause, perimenopause, and postmenopause. The presentation will detail the effects of changing levels of progesterone, estrogen, and testosterone on the body.

Symptom Identification: Identifying common symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, brain fog, anxiety, and changes in mood. The session will also address how ethnic and gender diversity can impact menopausal symptoms.

Evaluation and Treatment Strategies: Outlining a structured approach to evaluation, including differentiating menopause from other conditions with similar symptoms (like thyroid disorders or chronic stress). Treatment options will be discussed, including hormonal therapy (HT) and non-hormonal treatments such as certain antidepressants and cognitive behavioral therapy. The session will emphasize an individualized and shared decision-making approach to patient care.

This presentation is an opportunity to expand your understanding of menopause and improve your ability to provide personalized, evidence-based care to your patients.

A livestream "watch party" will be held at Bellingham Public Library - Fairhaven Branch in the Fireplace Room, where attendees can enjoy a non-alcoholic apertif as they learn about this important topic.

Please note, parking space at the library is limited. Attendees are asked not to park in spaces reserved for library patrons. Street parking is available.
