Overview
Elizabeth presents a discussion about the identification and care of patients presenting with LADA (latent autoimmune diabetes in adults) diagnoses in the primary care setting. Discussion will help differentiate LADA from other types of diabetes. Further conversation will include brief prognosis for patients diagnosed with this type of diabetes, more so focusing on best practices for the treatment and management of LADA and general expectations for managing this type of diabetes within a primary care scope of practice.
Speakers
Elizabeth Assenmacher is a certified nurse practitioner with experience in managing acute and chronic illnesses across the lifespan. She received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Villanova University. She then completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Drexel University. She worked eight years as a registered nurse working in medical intensive care while completing her Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration as a family medicine nurse practitioner. She values the relationships she develops with her patients as she helps navigate their medical concerns. She currently lives in Glenside, PA with her husband and two dogs, planning to relocate and open her own practice in Washington in the near future!
